  • unsharp rendering

    Hey there,

    I wanted to ask, if somebody of you does know how to make a VRay-rendering more sharp. Just a simple question, I know. But we figured out, that in comparison to Mental Ray the rendering looks really unsharp.
    Unfortunately I am not allowed to post pictures, but the settings I could explain:

    AA: Adaptive Subdivision (Mitchell-Netravali, Blur=0)
    MinRate=1; MayRate=4; Clr Thresh=0,07

    ColorMapping: intenity exponential, with
    sub-pixel mapping ON; Clamp Output ON

    GI: ON
    PrimBounce 0,5 irradiance Map

    irrMap-Settings: (medium)
    HSph.Subdivs=70; INterp. Samples=20

    Settings: DMC Sampler, globalSubdivs=1

    Would be really helpful if you could post your experience, concerning HighEnd Car Renderings...

    Thanks in advance...d.

    Use different AA filters (e.g. Catmull-Rom, Blackman). You can also try using Adaptive DMC image sampler. For the Mitchell-Netravali filter, increase the Ring value (leave the Blur to default).

      Thanks!

      we started the rendering with a higher ringing value (ringing=25). I´ll be back with the result...

        Ähhhh, what does "ringing" do? With 25 the result is blurred...I mean really blurred?

          Start with a ringing of about 1 and gradually increase it.

            You can also try rendering without an antialiasing filter altogether, sometimes things look better this way.
