  • Light through glass

Hi, I would like to know how to make exterior vray sun light, to be seen in the interior, I mean to go through glass and iluminate the interior.

I checked affect alpha and affect shadows, but have no results

If you take a look at the garage the problem doesnt seem to be the glass, but shadows generally not beeing lit.

Using Gamma 2.2 might help brighten up interior shadows too.

Are you using secondary bounce even? Turning on them will help too as well as making the windows more transparent.

If your interior is dark I don't think it will show up too well...

          What is your transparency setting?

Another thing you may want to try to ascertain the light lighting the interior is to re-locate the light above your camera (a situation where in the light is behind the camera). Although this is not a good idea to light any scene but just to make sure thing are going right.

Once confirmed increase your secondary bounce and things should workout.

Lower your sun shadow bias btw, seem that is producing some artifacts in your render.

Making the glass a seperate object and turning all it's GI parameters off in the Vray Properties helps too with Dark Glass. Also putting a vray light ( Flat) inside aligned to the window and makign it a skylight portal can help as well.

Thanks a lot guys, every suggestion worked with getting the sunlight through glass, mostly the one in which I made the glass of the window a separate object and excluded it from GI parameters and from direct target light shadow casting

All you needed to do is tick affect shadows on your vray material!
