  • VRayPlane Object - UV mapping ?

    Hi all

Why is it that I can not apply UV mapping or mapscaler to a VRayPlane Object?
    Kind Regards,

Because it is an infinite plane...thats my guess. Infinity goes on forever so there is no final value. Mapping something with no final width or length would be impossible to calculate..

Does not matter how big it is. I often need to use a very large area and it will be fine to map a satellite image or anything else onto an infinately big object and it would be fine it it repeats every 10km or so. Now If I have a normal plane say 100km X 100km trying to map that and fit into the rest of your scene is just a major headache....

Foir normal objects I sometimes specify a size for the UV then it just repeats "seamleslly" wihout too much notice. I'm sure others would use this some way with VRayPlane object if available.
      Kind Regards,

You can use a standard max plane and set the Render Multiplier scale to some insane number to make it really large. As long as the uv map is not the last modifier max will ignore the extents of the map size. Otherwise just tick "ignore extents" in the object properties.
        www.dpict3d.com - "That's a very nice rendering, Dave. I think you've improved a great deal." - HAL9000... At least I have one fan.
