  • split render network errors

    Hi there,

I am currently rendering some large split renders to 9 seperate machines. I think I read somewhere about creating the irrmap and lightcache files on one computer (which I did) and then upload the files to the server where all the machines grab them. I did this and still get differences between each split when backburner stitches them together.

What am I doing wrong ?

    Your process is correct.
If some of the stripes appear darker than others, usually this means that not all of the machines are accessing the Imap. If this is the case, try copying the Imap (and the LightCache, if using "LightCache for glossy rays") to each machine, and change the path accordingly.
Having all the machines access the files locally will most certainly prevent this from happening.

If this is not the case, can you show an example of the result you are getting?

(as a side note, keep the strips that rendered correctly, as you might be able to stitch them again once you rerender the faulty ones)

Im pretty sure they can all see the irr & lc files as it is a shared network location where all the textures are as well. The textures are picked up on every machine which means they can definately see those shared folders.

Let me check all the bits are there and if I cant work it out i'll post an image.

We run into this when the gamma setup on the slaves are different from one another, checking off the laod with file option isa a good way to avoid this (Gamma settings in preferences)

Thanks. I'll have to test that out. For now im just sending the stills through to one render at a time. They seem to be coping ok so no splits are necessary at the moment...luckily

Edit: I just had a look to see if this item was checked and it was already off anyway.
