  • License Server - Manual Start!

    Hello, All -

I apreciate that this topic has been raised recently, but I'm still no closer to a solution...

I've just installed SP3. However, when I select Vray as my renderer, I receive the "Could not obtain a license (10061)" error message.

I've found that if I start the "Launch Vray License Server" maunally, by double clicking on the icon, Vray works as normal!

How do I rectify this problem? Someone mentioned that I may need to "update the License Server" - but how do I do that?

Any help would be most apreciated!

You need to have the V-Ray license server running whenever you wish to use V-Ray. You can make the license server to start automatically by registering it as a Windows service. To do this, go to the Start menu > Programs > Chaos Group > V-Ray for 3ds Max > Licensing > Administration > Register V-Ray license service. This will cause the license server to run automatically each time Windows starts.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Upon re-instaling SP2 - even though I did register it - it does not start automatically !

any solution other than dragging it to the startup folder ?

Can you see the service in the Windows services list? Is the service type set to "Automatic" rather than "Manual"?
