  • VrayLightMtl inside a multimaterial....?

    hello,

    a small question from me:

Is it correct, that the VraylightMtl (direct illumination enable!!!) inside a
multimaterial doesnt work as light source (like mesh based vray light)???
It works for me only correct as single material on single object....

    can somebody confirm this??

    regards
    chris

hi, is there any chance there will be a fix for this in near future?
        a hotfix would be awesome.

currently i workaround like this for a lavastream between rocks:
i create a duplicate of my self illuminated object and convert it to a lightmesh inside a vraylight.
then i move it somewhat over the self illuminated mesh, and light the scene with it. must be doublesided.
but the bumps of the self illu object become nearly obsolete. and when you additionally light the bumps from a side, the self illumination overbrights.

i can also NOT exclude the self illuminated mesh from the mesh light. is it a bug or a necessity?

do you have a better solution?

It is not so easy to implement; we will look into it, but I cannot say when it will be done.

You can use the VRayLight Exclude list to remove any object from casting shadows or being illuminated by the light.

Note however, that if two objects occupy exactly the same portion of space (their triangles exactly overlap) you are likely to run into issues.

my lightmesh wont exclude my self illumiated mesh. i tried it. it doesnt work

yes, i saw that. that i why i move my lightmesh above my self illuminated mesh
