  • Increased flickering...

I just set up a small network in which I was planning to render the more demanding scenes I've created. I did a test render over the weekend using only two computers, but the outcome had very noticeable flickering problems. I've rendered the exact same sequence about a month ago. At that time there was still some flickering but not nearly to the same extent. This leads me to believe that the problem might be something with the network rendering (or maybe something with SP3 that I installed after the first but before the second rendering).

Here's my settings and the clip. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've yet to finish an animation entirely without flickering...

Looks like Interpolation on the materials isn't set high enough.

I'm not sure what setting you're referring to? Should I edit this in the actual materials in the material editor?

I tried using the universal settings but the rendertime was enormous...

        hi

in your material editor .. you just need to raise the samples for the interpolation to say 60-100 .. depending.

but again without looking at your scene i am only guessing.

I am having the same issue and I just read this in the manual: that interpolation in the materials needs to be off for animation: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150R...reflect_interp

Also if You turn off interpolation and there are glossy reflections the rendering time is huge,

are you rendering from a saved irradiance map?
Can both computer see the location of where the saved GI is saved?

Ok. I just checked and I'm not using interpolation for the materials, so I guess that can't be the issue. And I'm not using a saved irradiance map either, though I had the same idea.

I've read the thread you posted (res3d) and am now trying to use the settings from your scene combined with the feedback from Vlado. I'll do a test render of 50 frames and get back to you when it's done.

Thanks for all your input so far, guys.

                    flickering

use this scene, the materials are cleaner and the mapping is applied correctly. what solved the issue is having the camera path time match the number of total frames. Still there are other problems in the files and if you go from frame to frame in the 20 frame I rendered you can see there are some dark areas showing up on some of them, like some information is missing.
