  • Rendering gets brighter when Render Elements are active.

    Hi there,

We just noticed that Renderings turn out brighter than expected when Render Elements
    are active.

    Elements Inactive

    Elements Active

    Elements Settings

Max Default Directional Light, Gradient Environment.
    Vray Materials.
Primary Irradiance Map / Secondary Lightcache (does´t matter if settings are low or high)
It happens with Max Log. Exposure as well as Vray Color Mapping.
    Max2008/Vray 1.5 SP3

    Best regards,

Can you get me the scene above to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can take a look?

    Best regards,

I just send you a mail including the scene.
My co-worker who noticed this behaviour just told
me that he experienced the problem in a previous project, too

has this been recognised as an issue / logged as a bug / or is it all good?
I almost always have some elements active, and occasionally if i'm doing a little crop render patch fix, I don't need the elements so turn them off to save a boat load of memory - I'm getting really paranoid my image will get brighter if I do...

would be good to know an official position - I'm afraid I haven't got time to test this myself just at the moment....

It seems to be because of the Standard materials in the scene; if I convert the scene to VRayMtl materials, the result is the same with or without render elements. I will be looking into what's causing the problem, but for now simply stick to VRayMtl materials.

          Best regards,
          Vlado
