  • Very strange specularity problem with FastSSS2

I'm having a bit of a strange problem with specularity being clipped on a FastSSS2 skin shader.
I've included an image that should make it clearer. Instead of gradually fading out as expected,
the specularity gets clipped starting somewhere around 50%

The FastSSS2 is part of a multi-sub shader and the specularity is controlled by a vraycolor node
(same problem without it). I am running the latest Vray, Max 2009 64bit and rendering using LWF.

I suspect it might be because of the built-in cutoff for the reflections; you can try to make the glossy coat with a regular VRayMtl material layered on top with a Fresnel texture for blending (it's what the SSS2 shader does anyways) and see if it works better.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Is there any way to change the cuttoff valua as i'm having issues with reflections using a bitmap too.

I do have a fix for this which you can get if you email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com, otherwise you can use the work-around above.

              You're making me nervous.

I had to get my dog FIXED.

              He didn't like it.
