  • License server prob on 2008+2009+2010

    I just installed Max2008 + Vray 1.50sp3a an now :
    - I can't obtain a VRay authorization on Max2008
    - My 2009 Vray 1.50sp3a license (+dongle) that was ok before that instal ... no more works !
    - I then tried to install VRay 1.50sp3a on Max 2010 (hoping it should updat Wibu/VrayLicense drivers) and it neither works
    - The only Vray license still alive is the old Max9+Vray 1.5rc3 !

It tried several setting of the license server : localhost, IP, name,...

PS : The most strange is that I did exactly the same (2008 installed on a PC with Max9+2009+2010 allready installed) and Vray works fine.)

    Help please !
    Fabrice (XP pro SP3 32bit)

Did you start the license server in the first place? The error code (10061) means that the license server is not started or something prevents V-Ray from connecting to it.

when installing a new vray version you have to do one of 2 things.

      1. Manually start the vray license in your services.

      or

      2. restart your pc and it will be started for you.

I tried to "launch the license server", I get an error message :
"Cannot start VRL service app due to another instance running or not sufficient access rights".

Anyway "vrlservice.exe" and "startvrlservice.exe" are allways running
(but the VL black and orange isnt visible in the task bar).
And the PC was restarted a lot of time since installation.

Help please ! It stops our productions here...

Hm, did you close the license server before running the installation? (if you installed it as a service, you can stop it from the Services applet in the Control panel) If you did not close the license server, the new installer didn't manage to update it properly.

          Best regards,
          Vlado

No I didn't closed the license server before installation.
Should I uninstall VRay and the reinstall it ?
If so, do I install the last (VRay 1.50 sp3a for 2010) version
or specifically the 2008 version ?
            PS : I'm also using 2009 and 2009...

              Well...
this morning I boot up the workstation and the license is running...
              I don't know how and why. I didn't changed anything in-between
(I worked on a laptop last days because of the license out-of-order).
I hope it won't stop running again.
              Regards, Fabrice.
