  • How to animate vrayfur?

    Hi.

A rather common problem I think.... either the solution is impossible hard (scripting etc.) or so easy that I just have not seen it yet.

Assume I take a sphere and let it bounce around (using reactor to get some realism in the bouncing....). Now if I apply vrayfur to the sphere..... I doubt it will bounce with the sphere? I tried "faking" the bounce by inserting keys for the gravity value whenever the direction of the ball changes, but that really looks awful.

What can I do to get a hairy bouncing ball? Thank you for your help.

i dont think vray fur supports dynamics. What you can try is, if you have access to 3ds max 2010, vray supports max hair, with that you can do the dynamics and anything else you wish.

Again can we keep these sort of things to the general section as its not a VRAY problem that has to be solved! or a BUG ... your kinda wasting peoples time reading through ...

Well I have thought about where to post it for some time actually and since this section is commented as "Post any problems that you have with V-Ray here." and since I have a problem with vrayfur, I thought this is the best place to ask for help.

Fair point ... but your question is a generalisation on how to use vray and not of an internal problem of vray that can be fixed by the developer .. which this section is for ... Dynamics of max do not work with vray fur, if you are using max 2010 then hair will work and so will dynamics .. gravity, wind, ect ......

I did not know that this is a bug-report section only. Then you are right of course. Yes I have access to max 2010. So to generate dynamic fur, I better stick to the internal max hair generator?

Post any problems that you have with V-Ray here. You can also use this section for reporting bugs.

This one on the other hand... http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...ad.php?t=45661 heh

yes, you can use hair and fur WSM. It comes with its own set of dynamics and simulation tools. You can search this forum, there was a description on how to render max fur with vray in 2010.
