  • SP3a license problem -a tip that maybe help

    Hello together,

nearly distorted my computer last night, so if anybody also runs out of ideas, may this could help:

After installed Max2010 64Bit on XP64Bit and Vray1.5SP3a, I got no Vray-license in Max. On the same machine I have also Max2009 64Bit with SP3 (not a) running without problems. Searched in this forum but could not find a solution (maybe I just can't find it).

At the end, the problem was the name "localhost", changed to the real computer name and voila - everything works fine also in 2010!

@Vlado: possible a difference from SP3 to SP3a in that area?

As far as I know, there is no difference between SP3 and SP3a in that regard, but I remember some people having similar issues with older builds too.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

It's funny because every time we think we have it figured it out, we latter realize that we have no idea what it is that causes the issue. Every now and then, some one in the room will start loosing their license and it will usually carry on through the day until we reboot. But even then, it can still happen afterwords. There is literally nothing you can do but reboot and hope for the best. Luckily it doesn't happen enough to us to cause real issues. We have 10 licenses and at most we have about 7 people all using Vray at once. Usually when it happens there are only about 2 or 3 people rendering. So, all in all it makes no sense.
