  • HDRI Burnt

    Hi,

I am working on a scene and I am trying to illuminate the scene with an HDRI. I have my v-ray settings as high as they can go, but all the elements in the scene look as if they were burnt. I have the HDRO multiplier set to 2 and I am exposing the scene with a v-ray camera. WHat amn I doing wrong?

recheck your settings I guess. maybe post some screenshots/renders? I'm sure its something simple.

      Burnt HDRI

Here are some screen shots. I can't see anything wrong with the settings.

        Hi

Try lighting it with a dome light and no hdri and see what happens...Apart from that look at the model itself ..

Just a thought how are you using the HDRI?

          Hdri

I actually tried everything, but nothing worked. I re-imported the dwg and things are back, working good.

            SolidRocks

One second.... I re-imported the model in a new scene, rendered, and all went well. I setup my hdri, rendered, and all went well again. I applied my SolidRocks settings and it went bad again. I did an undo and it went back to good. I e-mailed support over at SolidRocks so I am sure he'll look into it.

I thought you had some odd settings going on there, just set up vray yourself and understand what you are doing, if you rely on programs like solidrocks you will never learn my friend ... your putting your trust in some guys settings ... does he know how to set up vray ?

my ten pence worth ... dump it !

my guess is your colormapping, but only cause I dont see anything else that would do that per se. I ONLY ever use linear myself. IMO if you can't get what you need with linear, then you need to adjust your scene.

                  V-Ray settings

I have a very good understanding of v-ray's settings, but I find SolidRock allows me to very quickly setup up scenes. The little preview window is worth it for me anyway. The developer just got his copy of MAX 2010 so it is a bug. I do agree that something like SolidRock can make you a dumb V-ray user if you let it.
