  • Rendering Hi Res image and vray crashes

I want to render out a 5400 x 2700 image. I created V-Ray raw image file (a .vrimg file) and turn off render to memory frame buffer. Vray will start to render then crash half way. I tried to render half 2700 x 1350 and vray finished the render, did not crash. Has anybody experience this problem? if so how do you fix it?

    Thanks

    crash

Oh ya.... it isn't v-ray crashing. You are running out of resources. You'll have to strip render. You can set up back burner and render to network, using the single machine (if you only have 1 machine). It'll slice your image up in pieces, 10 by default, and assemble it into one at the end.

Just want to tell you that I was able to render 16.000x17.000 pixel VRimg files with distributed rendering on 6 PCs. VRimg was always the solution for me when everything fails in therms of big renderings.

Try to setup first a very small rendering to free the VFB. Then switch to VRimg files.
Uncheck "Rendered Frame Window" in Render Setup/Common tab and uncheck "Render to memory frame buffer" in Render Setup/V-Ray/V-Ray:Frame buffer. Store the VRimg files on a network path where all PCs are allowed to write.

It is not enough to just turn of the "Memory frame buffer" option; you need to turn off the "Get resolution from Max" option; keep the 3ds Max resolution settings in the Common tab of the Render Setup dialog relatively small (e.g. 320 x 240), and set the actual resolution in the V-Ray VFB settings. This is done in order to prevent 3ds Max from creating a large rendered frame window bitmap itself.

          Best regards,

if you want you can render the image at Rebus for free unsing DR with 800core

use the Farminizer to submit the job and contact me be email for render points
its a good test for my system since we polish DR

              Hi QuakeMarine1,

thank you for the friendly offer. The problem is, this was an old project which was revitalized at the beginnig of the last year. The image was used as a texture on a whole wall of an exhibition booth. Maybe next week I can test something very big. Do you have forest pro on you farm? Just kidding ...

              Greets and thanks again.

cool, I'm trying to use the distributed rendering. Everything works untill I send the render and I get a message "waring: could not connect to host: using 1 host for distributed rendering." Im not sure if my network is seeing the other pc's and im not sure how to fix the problem for now. Do you have any solutions?

                Thanks

Did you start the V-Ray spawner on the other machine? Do you have any firewalls that might be blocking the connection.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado

I found two problems I was having. 1. Didn't have the Map newtwork Drive set up correctly. 2. Didn't have Vray spawner running on the slave pc oops!! . Now everything working, but im getting missing bucket renders for my trees? It will render everything else but only some of the trees? trying to fix the problem now. I'm using vrayproxies and im changing the path of the proxies (.vmesh) to the shared mapped drive. Maybe my bucket pixels are to small? Im using 32 render region division. It might be a memory issue? Have you had a problem with missing buckets?

                    Thanks !!
