  • Vray light problem

    Hello,
I am having promblem with my vray lights casting shadows on my ceilings. Not sure what is causing it. Here are a few screen grabs with settings and a rendered view of the promblem.
    Thanks.

well you have made your light to behave in a physically unnatural way; your light is hidden from the scene, yet it has to illuminate. So there is no light source to be visible in a place of your vray light.

Thanks, but I always thought the "invisible" check box light settings let you make the light complete invisible alowing you luminate an area without seeing the vray light source. I do need still add fixtures, but this is still in design, and have not gotten that far in the process, just know that there will be some light in these spaces.

Have you got dirt on those ceiling materials?

Still calculates it for invisible lights, try lowering them from the ceiling.

invisible simply means the camera will not see the light. However, the emittion of light still has to happen in the direction the light is illuminating. In the real world, where there would be a light source, the backside would not be illuminated because it would be occluded by the light backside.
In vray, if you check doublesided, the light will illuminate to both sides, lighting up the back area. However that might not be what you want. Typically, if you have a modeled light in the cealing, you may want to place a vray light infront of it and check - portal. This will gather illumination from the modeled light and use vray light to emit.

Thanks for the tips Dmitry, I will keep that in mind. Yes, I do have dirt in the diffuse slot for my ceiling material, I will take that off and give it a try.
            thanks,
            Eric

You could also turn on the "Work with transparency" option for VRayDirt to solve the issue.

                Best regards,
