  • pre pass ir and lc results in glitches

As you can see on the top right and bottom left of the image where its not smooth but actually looks like the IR map in some ways... The glitching is stable over the frames of the animation, no flickers etc.

any ideas why this is happening?

I rendered the LC in one pass as a fly through and saved the file.

But i rendered the fly through IR map in 3 parts because the saved ir map file was getting too large.

the final render uses the saved maps

So this glitch has occurred in the middle of the animation but at the beginning of a new ir map file... I restarted the IR map from scratch and the irmap file is 170mb instead of 230mb as it was the first time... and there is slightly less of the problem but its still there.... rendering every 5th frame... any ideas?

This is with vrayadv 1.50SP2 max2009 x64 bit
I have not updated to sp3a because the project was mid way when it was released...

It looks like the IRmap isnt saving properly.
Try using "incremental add" every 15frames and that should help.

okay, so incremental add instead of multiframe incremental and point to the same ir map file and it will just 'improve' the data there and not overwrite it?

seems to have overwriten the original ir map file... so i dont see how its any different to multiframe incremental... or how it will solve the problem.

Okay doing some reading up and im pretty sure the problem is because i did multiframe over back burner and that does not work... so ill do it with DR now.

Multiframe incremental mode does not work through backburner (the render slaves have no idea what was rendered by other slaves). Using DR should work better in this case.

Rendered it with DR and everything is fine... good thing I decided to read the manual!

Surprisingly about 70% of the animation turned out fine even though i was doing it the wrong way.
