  • Really Bad Problem - Could not obtain a license (10061).

I have a REALLY bad problem as I'm in the middle of a job. This problem just suddenly started for no apparent reason.

I'm getting an error for the Vray License Server:
Could not obtain a license (10061).

    1)The port/IP Address is correct.
    2) I've tried installing/uninstalling Vray and no luck.
    3) I've scanned for WIBU-Box using the server monitor and it shows that the dongle is there.

I have both legitimate versions of VrayRT and Vray installed.
I'm going to try installing the license server on another computer, however I don't want to have another computer running all the time.

Rebooted and now it's working again. Phew.

I've never had that happen before...

This particular error (10061) means that the license server is not running on the machine that you specified as a license server, or there is a firewall blocking the connection.

There wasn't a firewall on this computer and the license server was running. I thought I had a bad dongle for a second, which with a project deadline had me a bit concerned...

I should also note that after reinstalling Vray, I had to reinstall VrayRT as that kept on displaying license warnings as well.

          same prob

          can't reach my admin.
i started max and vray does not obtain the lic.
i put the dongle in all different usb ports.

i tried the ip and the comp name.

          i'll continue trying.

          i hate that.

Did you start the license server in the first place?

            Best regards,
            Vlado

Just curious - do you have the same error code? Also do you have VrayRT installed?

I had the same error code and realized on my home workstation, I had set my workstation's client license to connect through my office VPN to my office's license server. My local license server wasn't on.
I turned on my local license server at home and it 'fixed' my issues with Win7 receiving a license... Go figure... user error
