  • Some Vray Materials Clamp colors, while others don´t

I have 3 Materials for leaves. All are from Evermotion trees.
    The Materials look like this

For a specific scene I need to brighten them pretty strong.
I do this by turning up the RGB Muliplier in the Diffuse Slot to a value of 8
(It´s not physical I know, I just need it that way)
All materials have exactly the same parameters I checked it twice,
expect they have different Maps (wich are all jpgs)
when I turn the Diffuse RGB Level to 8 for all 3 Materials it looks like this.

It works well on the first 2 but doesn´t on the third as it clamps the colors and won´t
let me overdrive the material. I also noticed that Vray won´t let me overdrive colors with
materials in the latest builds. Why ? Is there some option I don´t find.

Right next to the output amount that you're changing, theres a checkbox for 'clamp'

edit: thought you were doing it differently, go to the bitmap in the material editor and go to the tab called output, it's in there.

The VRayMtl has a hidden option that you can access from MaxScript; it is called "option_clampTextures" and the default value is true. Set it to false to enable brighter-than-white textures.

Great, works as expected now. Thank You !
Now I also can fake Self Illumination directly within the Vray Material
        without creating a shellac Mat.

Would it be possible to make a checkbox for that in a future build ?

It is a somewhat dangerous option; it would make more sense to add a proper self-illumination slot to VRayMtl.
