  • Instance Proxy - Updating ?

    Hello friends,

    I made a scene with one object... converted to a vray proxy-mesh.
    I instanced that vray proxy mesh 100 times...

    for some reason, vray is calculating extreme long on updating the instance objects. 10-15 minutes.... I never had something weired before...

    does anyone had such experience as well ?
    and what needs to be done to fix that issue ?

    Increase your dynamic memory limit.

      so that's it ?

      I mean I am not running into memory issues... while updating the instances (which takes 10 minutes and is very unusual) vray takes about 2 GB of RAM.. on my worstation I do have 8 GB...

      the thing is, the updating takes to long....

      anyways, I will try to increaese and see what's happening....

      any other ideas what's causing this weired thing ?

        I'm having the same problem, I have thousands of cars but only 33 unique types. All are groups, it is taking the "updating instances" so long it's unusable. I'm going to try and instance replace the groups-necessary since my maxscript to import vissim animation to max cars needed groups to apply animation to-with vray proxies. But what is going on with the lengthy load times? I"ve adjusted the dynamic memory and that didn't do anything.

          I found a solution for my scenario, never ever ever nest groups. I had a group containing all of my grouped cars. That was causing my problem. Once I got rid of the parent group the scene updated the instances from 15 minutes to 20 seconds
