  • send a DR work through backburner

Hi, for the moment, i use 2 options :
i render via backburner using strip mode,
    OR
i render via Vray Distributed Rendering from my machine.

what if i 'd like to send a DR work through backburner..... is it possible ? (i tried with no sucess)...
i could send to slave A a job where DR is activated. The job would start on slave A, and would use all the vrayspawner activated available slaves to do a distributed rendering. this would allow me to continue working on my machine flawlessly.

    Thank you

to use DR with backburner what you need to do is turn on spawner on the ooother computer. the computer chosen as the one to render the frame doesnt need it on since the frame is already rendering on that system. its the other ones that kick in with DR

If you want other nodes to join the DR you you will need to modify the vray_dr.cfg file on the host node. See this post:

i started the spawner on all the slaves, and i copied the vray_dr.cfg on all the slaves.

the job is tarted correctly, but the dr slaves are recognizeed only after that i have shut the spawners off and restarted them...

            any thought appreciated

I use BB and DR all the time without any hitches, not sure why you would have to restart the spawners, but if you choose the option in the DR rollout you can have them restart after every render, so at least you only have to deal with it once.

even when option checked, the spawner do not restart. then the memory keeps used. strange

I have wanted this to work for a long time. Even with sp4, we still get buckets that dont render right. maps are all saved locally, and on all machines.

I use this all the time without any problems. I didnt even modified the vray_dr.cfg file. What i do is to start the BB manager and server on my workstation, and the only the VRaySpawner on all the other machines. In the max file i activate DR. Then simply submit the job and in the bb render dialog select use selected servers and select your workstation. Once the rendering starts the other pc's will kick in. Of course you can submit more then 1 job and let them all render over night via BB and DR. All textures in the scene are using a network path of my workstaitons maps folder, i dont store them locally. i never had a bad bucket or wrong result this way.
