QUESTION:
We are running into problems with versions of software when trying to install a dongle onto a vmware computer for V-ray license server 1.50 sp3a. The issue is between the Digi AnywhereUSB/5 device and the Wibu-Key that has the drivers to get the licenses from the dongle. If we use do not use the Digi AnywhereUSB/5 device, we do not have any issues but we need this DIGI device because it is the only way I know of for VMWare servers (virtual servers) to be able to communicate with usb devices and thereby get the V-ray licenses.
The DIGI device is a network device with its own ip address. Once connected to the device, the usb ports on it appear as if they were on the virtual server.
The problem is that there are issues with the versions of software. See part B for versions of stuff.
The latest version of the Wibu-Key software does not play nice with the DIGI anywhereUSB/5 device. DIGI's recommendation on their website is to downgrade the WIBU-Key driver version to 4.10 from 5.20 (for WIBU-BOX/RU models). Although that fixes the problem with the DIGI device - i.e. we can see the dongle and its licenses in the WIBU-Key, we get another conflict. This time the issue is with the
V-Ray license server.
The V-ray license server states that the "Application requires runtime modules with version 5.10 or higher". I assume this means that the V-ray license server does not work with the downgraded WIBU-Key driver because it is now at version 4.10.
Has anyone had the same issue and found a workaround for this?
Part A
from Digi's support web site
My WIBU license dongle does not install, when connected to my Digi AnywhereUSB. The symptom of this behavior would be a yellow warning icon related to the WIBU dongle, in Windows Device Manager.
As of the time of this writing (11-17-200
there is a known compatibility issue with WIBU license dongles when connected to the Digi AnywhereUSB, using the latest WIBU driver to-date.
For WIBU-BOX/U models, using the older v5.10 WIBU driver seems to be a workaround. That driver can be downloaded here:
http://www2.wibu.de/share/WkRuntime5.10.exe
For WIBU-BOX/RU models, using the older v4.10c WIBU driver seems to be a workaround. That driver can be downloaded here:
http://www2.wibu.de/share/WkRt-Int-v410c.exe
Part B
Wibu-Key version 4.10 from 5.20 or 5.10 (can't remember)
v-ray for 3dsmax 2010 license server 1.50.sp3a
DIGI Anywhereusb/5 1.80
