Scene taking forever to calc light cache

Hi,
I've run into a strange problem.
My scene was taking approx 10mins to render, until i made a few revisions. Now the lightcache calculation is taking ages, the estimated time keeps climing higher and higher, to over 200 hours!!
The revisions were minimal. I moved a car and some people, edited the terrain a bit, nothing major.
Settings are low. DMC 1, 4. global multiplier is at 1. lightcache at 1000 subdivs. ive not changed anything.
Im guessing something might have corrupted.

Any suggestions?

My first try would be to turn displacement off, if there is any, to see if that's the problem. Huge render times in Light Cache could be caused by displacement.
My second would be to turn on "Material Override", see if if goes through, nail down if it is a material problem.
Finally I would merge everything into a new scene.
