  • Fog Color set to Maximum when object interpenetrates

When not having a perfect mesh, Fog Color of VRayMtl isn't working
correctly. It shows the full Fog Color value in self-interpenetrating
areas, even with Max Depth set to 1.

Please take a look at the the Scene / Image - Is there a solution to
that issue so that even these areas get fogged correctly?

    Best, Rob

The problem is not in the penetration itself, but the fact that the normals are inverted. V-Ray uses the normals to figure out if the fog starts or stops at a surface. Since the normals are not correct, the fog starts on the second intersection, but never ends.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

OK, I understand Do you think it would be possible to
calculate the ending and start of the surface by the
traced ray in future releases instead of the normal?

Or would VRayEnvironmentFog when it supports meshes
      work better?

I know this isn't an essential function but would open
a lot of possibilities for fx work...

      Thanks in advance, Rob
