  • DR in SP3a

Hi Everyone, I'm having the same problem that user RSF had in another thread about slaves being sent the IRmap when trying to DR using incremental add, but not actually participating. The frame completes on my computer before they even start.

Here's the log from the slaves:

Here were RSF's comments, which mirror my experiences:
    (from: http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...t=44980&page=2)
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe they don't have time because each frames begins to take less time to calculate but...since the scene is already loaded in the slaves it should be really fast...shouldn't it?

The Vray message scrolls inumerous "sending 571036 bytes of irradiance map to...." very fast and stops 5 or 6 seconds after. It seams fast enought.

Then vray log shows the followinf in the slaves (pasted text at the end of the post)

It's only when the workstation was finished the frame that the "server 192.168.0.2: starting frame 233" messages appear.
Frames range from 35 sec to 2 mins. 2 mins seams enough for slaves to start.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------

The slaves are xp64, Max2010 sp1, Vray 1.5sp3a, all fresh installs, all acting the same way.

Hello, anyone? These things always crop up right near a deadline, so if anyone has any suggests, or has seen this before (vlado?), I'd be eternally grateful.

      Hello.
      Yes...Some help please....Vlado?
I've managed to distribute IR calculation rendering in "animation prepass" and then merging all saved irr maps.
This is a workarround since each frame is not optimized with the previous irradiance calculation as with "incremental add"

The problem when using "incremental add" in that DR slaves drop on second frame.
I don't think they actually drop but it takes forever to send the irrmaps to them.
Anyone managed to DR with "incremental add" efficiently?
      Thanks

So I think I've narrowed it down to a problem with the file and not the DR process itself. I set up a simple scene and was able to use DR to do the Inc. Add function with all the slaves helping.

But, now I've got to figure out why DR doesn't like my file. Can anyone suggest anything? I've looked at duplicate material names, instanced maps, etc, and my only other idea is to try and merge it into a new scene.

-maybe scene is too far away from origin?
-any missing maps/files? (try to tick-on "check for missing files" before render then see what the log says.)
