  • vrayenironmentalfog problems

    Hi Guys,

Ive searched the forum and checked out tutorials but I seem incapable of setting up a simple scene with vrayenvfog.

I have a hole in a wall, a bright light from outside and the vrayenvfog setup in the env rollout. I want to see streaming light from the light outside but all I get is a mist over the entire scene.

Ive tried brute force, turning off "store with irr map" on lights and many other things but always get the same misty result with no streaming or shadows in the fog...

Any tips on how to resolve this.
    Regards

What kind of light are you using to light the fog? If it is a standard light, make sure it has the "Atmospheric shadows" option turned on.

    Best regards,

Im using a direct light now (with atmos shadows on)...I was using a vraylight before. It seems I can only get well controlled streams of light using max standard lights. Not tried vrayIES yet...

For a beam of light, the standard direct light (or VRaySun) will probably work best. Because of the inverse-square falloff of VRayLights, it might be a bit hard to get a well-defined light beam.
