  • vray license via internet

    Hello,

I was wondering if its possible to acces your vray license (dongle) at home via internet on your workplace? instead of always taking the dongle at home... at my workplace we can take over our workstation through the internet, but its kind off slow.

If anybody can tell me how too set it up that would be great,

    tnhx

You can do that, but the results depend on how good the connection is. Also you may have to set firewalls along the way to let traffic through the required port number.

    Best regards,

A way to easily set up a connection between 2 remote computers is using Hamachi:

I do this all the time for both my vray and autodesk licenses. You'll need to set up a VPN.

Hamachi works fine for me - you set it up between your two computers (it's really simple - no configuration) and when you find the IP of your computer with the license server that hamachi assigns you pop that into your vray license settings dialog on the old computer - it's worked perfectly for me.

I know this is quite old, but I might have a need to set this up in the near future. Essentially, I would install Hamachi on my home PC and on my server at work (which has the dongles plugged into it), yes?

Are there likely to be any issues installing Hamachi on our server at work? Its Windows Server 2003. Any risks?
            Kind Regards,

              Hey Tricky,

Just got my remote license to work from home without using any additional software.

The dongles on a W2003 server at work and the setup is:

              WORK
              1. On your works router setup a port forward to your servers ip (internal ip address) for port 30304.
              2. On the servers firewall setup an exception rule for port 30304.

              HOME
              3. On the home computers firewall setup an exception rule for port 30304.
              4. On the home computer edit the license server information with your routers ip (external address eg. 123.564.447.899) and connection port 30304.

              Troubleshoot:
At home in internet explorer type http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:30304 and see if you can at least get access to the license server. note xxx.... is again your external ip address.

              Works great.

              Cheers
