  • Auto Region Selected

I've got an object to re-render in order to replace it in the animation. I've selected the video screen (that's the object), and when I press Auto Region Selected, and render a still frame, it works fine. Now, when I try to render an animation, the render region doesn't update with the revised screen location as the camera moves around the scene. Shouldn't this work? Does this feature not work with V-Ray?

I'd use the material override, and exclude the screen using an alpha material to do it, but there's a section where it gets refracted heavily passing behind some curved glass. No other method seems to work the way I need it to, so I really need this Auto Region Selected thing to work....

Hm, V-Ray gets the render region directly from 3ds Max. Does it work with the scanline renderer?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Seems to work fine for a quick test in 3ds Max 2010.

This is so strange - DR doesn't work with this file either, so I'm not surprised to see this file fail in other, more creative ways too.

Can you think of any reasons Vlado, that the Auto Region Selected feature wouldn't work?

Interestingly, I just opened the file up, set it to render region, and the default region was this very small, thin rectangle at the bottom-center of the safe-frame. This is the same area that gets rendered out consistently when I try to use the Auto Region Selected. So, it's as though it's got some sort of default region that's not getting updated or passed to the slaves....

Ah, so this was with DR? I only tested local rendering; I will check DR also.

            Best regards,
            Vlado
