  • Vray Spawner consuming Memory even when idle ?

Hi, i noticed that my renders, when launched in strip mode through backburner were taking eternity to complete. I then opened task manager on the slaves. The memory used was at its max (8 G). Then i shut down the vray spawner on the slaves (which is started at boot) and the memory dropped on each slave at 4 G. and the renders completed super fast.

    Any thoughts ?

    Thanks

The spawner itself does not use any extra memory; however the spawner starts 3ds Max in slave mode - we do not unfortunately have any control over its memory usage. It might be that you have done a DR rendering which took a lot of RAM - in that case, the slave 3ds Max will still keep the scene in memory. You can work around this by using the "Restart slaves on render end" option in the V-Ray DR settings dialog. This will cause the 3ds Max copy to be restarted after each render and free any memory related to the scene.

    Best regards,
    Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
