  • SSS2 & VrayScatter

I have just tried using the VrayScatter plugin with an object that has a SSS2 material..

It does work with single proxies, but when I scatter it using the plugin, the SSS2 material does not render properly (comes out black)..

Did anyone else experience this problem?

EDIT: Solved the problem already SSS2 works just fine with VrayScatter...

Okay, as soon as I try to create a mesh that has SSS2 on MatID 1 & Vraylight Material on MatID2 - then the SSS2 just turns out black..

So, it works fine when I have my SSS2 object and the Vraylight object as seperate objects..

Is there a workaround? Or does SSS2 not work when applied as a Multi/Sub object material?

Hm, it worked fine for me on a simple test with multi/subobject material and a proxy object.

Here is a simple test scene - not even with proxies..

The sphere on the left has been attached to the emitter inside, and has a multi/sub material applied..

SSS2 only seems to be working on the right sphere, that has an unattached vraylight material emitter.. (I am using direct illumination on the mat btw.)

I hope that I am missing something here.. It would be great to have this working

In fact it is the VRayLightMtl material that does not work in a multi/subobject material (the "Direct illumination" option, to be precise). This will be implemented in one of the next builds.

Vlado, thank you very much for your answer... Guess I'll have to stick with GI until the direct light option is working properly

            Thanks!
