  • Sp4: Stripes rendering with VFB - crash

In new version of vray - same bug.

    1. Enable VFB
    2. Add a vray render channel (ex: VrayAlpha)
    3. enable split render channels
    4. send job to backburner with stripes

get error at all servers after receiving job without starting render:
ERR Task error: An unexpected exception has occured in the network renderer and it is terminating
An unexpected exception has occured in the network renderer and it is terminating

Meanwhile, vray channels succesfully rendered by stripes in the network with simple max framebuffer.
    thanks

Are you using different resolutions in the V-Ray VFB and in the Common tab of the Render Scene dialog?

      Best regards,
      Vlado

        2010 max
        same resolution

It seems that trouble in possibility in 3dsmax 2010 to render channels by stripes, but enabled VFB crashing it down.
Solution is only in disabling VFB every time before network rendering

Ah, that would be the new OpenEXR saver? When the V-Ray VFB is enabled, V-Ray does not allocate and does not generate the normal 3ds Max render elements, which is probably what confuses the saver.

Can you get me a scene set up to crash to vlado@chaosgroup.com? I can't make it work either way, but at least we might be able to prevent the crash; you'd still have to use the 3ds Max VFB to get what you need though.

                Best regards,
                Vlado

VFB+stripes+enough at least 3 render elements = error.
if just to remove all render elements - all works perfectly
