  • Strange vray issue

So we have this scene, its pretty large. It uses vray scatter for a forest and there is an object in the middle of the forest that is not a proxy or a part of scatter. There is several million trees in the scene, and what is strange is that, if we render a scene without this object (so just vray scatter forest) it renders relatively fast, in about 20 minutes for a frame.
If we render the object by it self it also renders very fast in just a few minutes.
If we render them combined, as soon as the bucket reaches a point where there is a vray scatter pixels and object pixels the render time drops by factor of 20 (hypothetically).
I am curious as to weather it is something on a vray end or a vray proxy scatter, and if any one has had this happen before and what the solutions might be.

    Thanks.

Please tell me how I can get my render times to drop by a factor of 20 just by using a vrayscatter combined with a normal object!
Sounds like something up with the forest, maybe? Are you using a collision object or clipping plane in VRS?

my mistake. I meant to say the render speed drops down...(intern slows down)

We would really need an example scene for this so that we can debug it... if you can send one to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com I will be able to find out more.

        Best regards,
