  • Licence problem

Since upgrading to vray 1.5 sp3 I have had to register the licence as a service as launching the licence server in the task bar didnt work any more. Now ive upgraded to 1.5 sp4 the licence fails randomly whichever method I choose. Also, the render dialogue sometimes takes ages to open up as if Vray is having trouble finding the licence.

Can you advise me what to do please..
    Regards

error: Could not obtain a licence(1002)

Im still having this problem. The licence just failed again with the same error code. The render dailogue takes forever to open up and this is all really slowing down my process.

Maybe I should just go back to sp3.

Don't go back. I had he same exact randomly fails error: Could not obtain a licence(1002) after SP4 update (very annoying) , and it was WIBU service that was stopped in windows services (wasn't with SP3). Once I set it to Automatic start with windows and reboot all fine.

Well, im having exactly the same problem still. I have uninstalled vray completely, downloaded and installed the latest wibu drivers and the licence cant be found...not straight away, I can do about 2-3 renders then the licence cant be found.

Not sure this info will help to solve, but this is what the wibu server status reads:

Used IP address: default IP address.
                ### WkLAN server is active.
General WkLAN timeout set to 1440 minutes.
                ### 0 WkNet processes started
                11.07 00000000000: WkSvW32.exe is running.
11.07 00000000000: WkLAN server search inquiry received from maincomp

11.07 00000000000: WkLAN server search inquiry received from maincomp

11.07 00000000000: Connected as L00016, no slot allocated.
11.07 00000000000: Connection L00016 ("ServerManagement" at maincomp) closed.

Please note I replaced the dongle code with 000000000

Getting rather frustrated with this..please Vlado or someone help me out !
                Regards

V-Ray does not need and does not use the WIBU network server; all you need to take care of is the V-Ray license server itself.

Ok. Well, I havent got a clue what is wrong then. This all started when I upgraded to SP4. The only thing that was different when I initially installed sp4 was that the installer said that the uninstall of the previous version (sp3) was unsuccesful and that there were files still in the folder. I decided to ignore that and install sp4 anyway. Since then though I have uninstalled vray completely and reinstalled sp4 and that message hasnt come up since so im not sure what the uninstaller was talking about.

Im still having this problem no matter if I use the manual licence server that appears in the right hand task bar or register the licence as a service and then either reboot or start it manually after registering.
                    Regards

Ive given up with SP4. Im back on SP3 now and all is working fine. Ive been using it for about 2 hours now without any repeat of licence error.

Something is definately up with SP4... I would like to go back to it, but not until this is sorted.
                      Regards

Unfortunately I must report that this occur to me again as well..
Random lost of license.. , when render is over, I made some changes and hit render, and I get: error: Could not obtain a licence(1002)... , hit render again and render fine...
There was no report that vray was unsuccessfully uninstall-ed..
I Install-ed SP3 back and it's working with no error..

OS Vista Ultimate, PC is 2x xeon 5420
                        Best regards,

Im finding sp4 slows down max 2010 quite a lot too. The render dialogue takes ages to appear and the licence fails, but generally it feels more slugish. Im definately enjoying sp3 at the moment compared to sp4.

I'm on Vista 64 and max 2009 64 SP1. Seems Max version and OS are not the issue... perhaps installer or active service in the time of installing Vray is the problem forcing Vray to loose license.. I'll try uninstalling WIBU and Vray completely and then install back I will report tomorrow.. Since then cheers and happy Vray-ing win SP3
                            Best regards,

Ive tried both uninstalling the wibu drivers (Vlado says they are not what is needed for vray to run) and vray sp4 completely. Then re-installed, but without success. I really think this is an sp4 issue as I havent had any problems prior to this version with failing licences.
