  • Vray sp4, max 2010 X64 crash

    Hi
I've got a recursive crash with max 2010 x64 and vray sp4, i got that with the vraylog

"error: UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Rendering region (512,192)-(544,224)
    Last marker is at .\src\globillummap.cpp, line 1580: GlobalIllumMap::buildLightMap() {5}
    "

But when it crash there isn't any notice of this error, max crash suddenly... And it's a pain for me... Mys scene is quite heavy (165 mo) and i'm using a lot of proxys with vrayscatter, this is my only plug for this project.

My PC is a bi xeon nehalem with 18go of ram so, i don't think this is an hardware problem.

I can't send you the file (huge file with a lot of proxys... ans maps) So please, help me it's near my deadline... And i do't know how i can solve that alone.
    i ll be back

do any of the proxys have a normal map for the bump?

Can you isolate the problem to particular objects in the scene?

      Best regards,

really don't know if I can isolate that... (what about you think? an object error? developp please and maybe i can found some object linked to your mind )
I've reinstall vray, clean the plugini, clean the 3dsmax.ini and uninstall some plugs which i don't need, i tell you if it works, and i re-tell you if i have isolate a problem
If there is a normal bump on a proxy? no they don't have...
Damned this is a really anniying thing, when i'm rendering it "cut" everything and crash... Damned

I have had a similar problem with VRayscatter and proxies that have "normal maps" for the bump maps.
Some evermotion trees come with "normal maps" for the bump maps so maybe check if you have any of those in your scene.

You could try hiding half of the objects, and re-rendering; if there is still an error, hide again the half of the visible ones, and so on, until you can roughly figure out what's causing it. When/if you get to a smaller scene that still crashes, you can get this to me so that I can find out the exact problem.

incredible, you have the answer... I have ONE proxy with a normal bump, i delete it (and clean my feets on it, break him in 4 points and put my knee on his face friendly) And it works now, i tell you later if it always work... I'll send a message immediatly to icube to resolve this issue. Thx a lot

I have already notified iCube of the issue, but the more that complain the better.

I do... But the error persist... Less than befor but always here sometimes... Myabe a material and the mat editor is the problem... Or maybe the "object curse" that i can't found it...
I have done some render which save my life... So it's a progress... But not the complete solution
