  • Vraylight inside bulb model creates white splotches.

    Hello,

When I place the lights inside the bulb, I have splotches.

    - All scene is standard materials.
    _ Vraylights (sphere)
    Affect Diffuse
    Affect Specular
    (Dont) Affect Reflections
    Invisible
    Units : Luminous Power lm

    - Subpixel Mapping (Tried on and off and no help)
    - Clamp Output Enabled
    - Reflective GI is OFF
    - Checked geometry with AO. And all seems fine.
    - For the bulb model: removed/kept inside polygons and nothing changed.

There are some other lights in the scene (VrayIES and other VraySphere lights) and they all render perfectly except the lights on chandelier.

Here I enclose a cropped render
    - when lights are inside bulb
    - when lights are outside bulb
    - when chandelier is turned off

    Hope to find a solution.
Best Wishes for Everyone and Nice Weekend.

        It is a Vraymaterial:

        Diffuse: white
        Reflect: white (fresnel: on)
        Glossy: 0.99
        IOR: 1.8

        Refract: RGB 81 (grey)
        Glossy: 0.8
        IOR: 1.8
        fog color: white
        fog multiplier: 1

        no translucency.

I enclose a screenshot of the material settings.

When I turn off bulbs , all renders fine.
I didn't try excluıding because I would like to have shadows of bulbs.

Yes, the splotches you get for the same reason that you get them if you use small objects with self-illuminated materials. Since the light is hidden inside the bulb, V-Ray has to find it by trial and error which generates a lot of noise.

One way to work around this would be to make the bulbs not cast shadows and invisible to GI.

              Best regards,
              Vlado
