affect specular sp3a, what gives

  • affect specular sp3a, what gives

    basic scene
    chrome (slight highlight glossiness to get something in specular channel) sphere
    only light is a domelight (hdri in the texture slot)
    when I untick affect specular and I lose reflections too

    I don't understand you question but you should try upgrading to sp4.

      was quiet busy so couldnt explain before but will try and explain now
      this scene is a chrome ball with a hdri in a dome light

      In the first image the dome light is default values and you get the hdri reflected
      In the second image I have unticked affect specular and its black
      In the third image I have ticked affect specular and unticked affect reflection and get the brightest parts of the hdri

      I thought that the second image should be the first image minus the third image?

        Thanks for the pointer; this seems to be a very old bug, which appeared when we separated the "Affect specular" and "Affect reflections" options. I will fix it, but in the meantime, you can simply put the same map in the environment slot and it should work fine.
