  • Can't re-import VRay Proxies

    Hello,

I have exported some high poly models as Vray mesh/proxy. Now I need to change the geometry slightly. So I clicked the "Import as mesh" button. But nothing happes at all.
The object does not get loaded back into the scene.

All proxies in this scene render fine though.
I have checked the scene coordinate system origin where the object should appear.

Here is one of these Vray proxies (1,2 mb):

I'd be glad if someone could try to import that into an empty scene. I just wonder if the obejcts are defect or if I am doing something wrong.

    Thank you!

Did you try to import it?

The geometry had been a group before I exported it as a vray mesh. Maybe that has messed it up.

yeah I tried in max 2009x64
I always collapse groups before making proxies, so maybe its the group that is causing the issue

Hm - I am on max2010 design. So I am not sure if you could import it into 2009 anyway.

Collapsing groups is definately a good advice! Thanks for this one.

I just tried in max 2010 and it doesnt import.
I have used proxies to get objects from max 2009 back to max 9 a few times and it works well. Only problem is the materials dont come through

There was a problem with this particular proxy (some of the objects in it had certain mapping channels, others didn't). I've corrected this now and the proxy imports fine. If you wish you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com for the update.

                  Best regards,
                  Vlado
I only act like I know everything, Rogers.
