  • Too much high saving time for an empty scene with VRay!

    Hi Vlado,

I've a problem. If I save an empty scene with VRay as a renderer, 3ds max take about... 4-5 second! If I switch to scanline or MR, it's instantaneous. And, this is for a 1Kb or 1MB scene.
    I'm alone?
    Vray 1.5 SP4 + XP64SP2 + 3ds max 2009 SP1.

Yep, this is fixed for SP4a. The issue is caused by the option to save the DR hosts with the scene file (V-Ray tries to resolve them to IP addresses at that time).

    Best regards,
    Vlado

        Is SP4a available to download?

This has been driving us mad, we thought it was our workstations getting old...

By the way, the slow save happens here even when this setting is un-checked.

          Is that expected?

Yes, it would happen even if the option is not enabled; SP4a is not released yet officially, although the builds are now finalized. They should be on the site by the next week, but if the problem is significant, you can email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com for the update.

            Best regards,

When you say the sp4a builds are finalised does that mean that the earlier version I got for a different issue will be different to the sp4a final build ?

It would be best to get the official builds when they come out; I think there were one or two minor changes after that.

                Best regards,
                Vlado
