  • SP4 environment fog, 50% cpu utilization

I'm using max 2010, with sp4. I have a scene using 2 vray environment fog effects. One effect is linked to a standard spot light, using a .jpg sequence as a projector. It also has texture maps being used for color and density. The other effect is linked to a vray dome light, using no maps.

When rendering the fog effect using the maps, CPU utilization is stuck between 55%-65%. The scene was created with max 2009 and sp4 which renders at full 100% CPU, with both fog effects active. Anyone else have this problem?

Are you using any procedural maps (noise, gradient etc)?

      Hello Vlado,

Looks like it was the .JPG sequence not being in grayscale causing the issue....

Hm, ok. It is odd though.
