  • Relative paths + Vray SP4a and saved irradiance maps is a no-no?

We've come across what we think is a bug related to Vray SP4a, since it became apparent after installing it.

When using relative paths in 3ds Max and using saved irradiance maps, our workstations (which are set to relative paths) can't find the saved irradiance map. Our render nodes, which aren't set to relative paths (it has worked so far =) could render them, though.

Before we updated to SP4a (yes, it's not ideal to do it in the middle of a project, but we have other projects running simultaneously) we could render using our saved irradiance maps without problem.

Can you get me an example scene for this to vlado@chaosgroup.com so that I can take a look? In SP4a, we've made the irradiance map visible to the Asset Tracker, perhaps something goes wrong there...

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I'll see if I can create one after all the renderings are finished. Don't want to take up the render farm just by testing a "faulty" file =) So someday after the weekend. Thanks!

We noticed that the irradiance maps were visible in the Asset Tracker, and thought of that as a possible solution.. just changing the map path, but we decided to go back to absolute paths instead.

        Hello,
we have a problem here with reproducing the situation described. Can you provide a simple guide on how do you set your relative paths and where are your irradiance map files stored relatively to the project directory? Also a 3DS Max scene with settings that reproduce the problem may be helpful, if you can provide one please send it to vray@chaosgroup.com.

        Best regards
