  • Probably dumb: max lights won't render

I'm sure it's a dumb thing - but I have a stock scene I just bought and I'm converting it over to Vray. Problem is that the Max lights (spots and omni's) won't render in Vray, but they render fine in Vray RT

Is there an obvious switch/setting somewhere for the production render that I'm missing ? Vray Light Material renders fine in both, just the max lights that won't work.

    Thanks in advance
    b

EDIT: Vray lights aren't rendering either. Never had this problem before - I'm stumped.

Maybe there is something in the Global switches under lighting that is turned off.

The only thing I could find was default lights off/on, which is off, but I always have that off. Tried merging everything into a new scene and still no joy. Weird.

do you have a physical camera with exposure on or exposure of some sort?

You might try mreging the whole scene into a new, reset file therefore resetting all renderer parameters.

Yes, but it's not an exposure issue because I can see the Vraylight Materials normally, and cranking up the exposure does not reveal the Max lights. Exposure also looks fine in RT.

            Appreciate the help guys.

This is driving me crazy. I attached a simplified scene. It renders the light in VrayRT, but not in VRay. It's gotta being something dumb I am missing, but damned if I can figure it out. Anyone have a chance to look at the file?

                Thanks

Just opened it, I see a big blue light in RT, nothing in the VRay. Let's inspect this closer ....

I think I might have solved this little conundrum... In the environment and effects, the Global Lighting Tint level is at 0.0, if it is raised to the normal default 1.0, there is light!

You're a life-saver - this was driving me crazy! I thought that was only for ambient light, but I hadn't even noticed that. Thanks Robert!

These are the times that "unbiased" render engines start to seem REALLY appealing. Just so few buttons to turn on/off by accident

could be some vray problem. Merging into clean scene fixes it though.
