  • Vray Crashing

    Hello Everyone,

I am on a intel quad 2 core Q6600 with an Nvidia Gforce 8800 GTX graphics card and 8 GB of RAM.
Everytime I render a vray scene 720p or higher my computer just shuts down. This never happened before and it is very annoying.
I am not sure what is it going on or is there any way to fix it.

Does anybody have any idea at what could the problem be? Please shed some light on it.

    Cheers and thanks in Advance

    Sh.

can you elaborate on the term "shuts down"? does it just turn off (power off) or...

it could be a number of things, here are some tips:

look in the system log (even viewer) to see what has happened, there could be a clue there.
your pc might not have enough power for the cpu
        your pc might be overheating
your video card might not have enough power
there is some issue with the card trying to hold a higher resolution buffer
        check your ram/hdd for consistency
check your cpu voltage to be proper

try rendering with another program, another renderer and see if this happens, if it does then its definitely hardware related.

I would definately think it is a problem with your cpu not getting enough power. Even if it work fine before, power supplies do often "wear out". Thus, when you render, your cpu overheats quickly and shuts down.

I had this too ... 2 months ago..

The problem was - overheating CPU cores - up to 100 degrees C.
            Solution:
Go out and wipe out the dust of the PC box.

Also what Morbid said. Check out all your datas on the working system, especially temperatures , Valtages, etc.

            Best wishes,

If its indeed the cpu, make sure to have a good enough heatsinc, although, q6600 is not a very hot cpu. If this was the cpu overheating, I would check the thermal grease make sure its been fitter properly and that there is enough of it between the cpu and the heatsinc.
