  • Noise in lawn

I have some trouble with an animation i have to do right now. There is always some noise in my lawn, the rest of the scene is fine but the noise in the lawn is very ugly. I am using instanced proxies for the lawn, so there is no displacement going on. I attached my rendersettings. I searched the forum and i found a post where someone had a similar problem with autograss and displaced grass, the answer from another one was that it is somehow related to the irradiance map and that you should try to use the high animation preset. I will do this, even it takes ages to calculate and hope that it helps. I found another thread where someone suggested to turn off the time independent feature of the dmc sampler. I would do this too but after reading the manual iam not sure if this is the right way:

"Time independent - when this option is On, the sampling pattern will be the same from frame to frame in an animation. Since this may be undesirable in some cases, you can turn this option Off to make the samping pattern change with time."

I usually want the same sampling pattern to be the same from frame to frame right? Could this be one of the cases where it would help to unckeck it?
I am going to send this whole animation through a renderfarm and i want to make sure that when i get the files back its noise free and that i didnt wasted 1000€ of my companys money. So do you guys think that the high preset would help and whats your opinion about unchecking the time independent feature?

Yeah' I also had the same problem (pixel swimming) when animating grass - also tried everything in the forums but alas....no joy!

I tried the high animation preset and the precalc time went from 40 minutes/frame to 4 hours/frame..I could live with that if it would help to get rid of the noise but it didnt helped...The noise is still there, not as much as before but still very noticeable. Since nobody replied in the last two days i guess there is not much i can do about it. right now i kicked the vray proxy lawn out of the scene and faked it with a couple of noise maps. In this animation i am lucky because the camera is never real close to the lawn so a noise map might work but i would still like to know what magic setting i have to use to get rid of that static noise for future projects.

EDIT: pnel77, i guess i found your thread then Judging from your reply i guess you havent found a solution. What really bugs me ist that in a previous project it was working fine, i used autograss and vray proixies for the grass and i had no noise, flickering or swimming pixels at all - i used the medium preset and less brute force samples then right now.
