.vrimg to .exr

    Is this method really necessary? I just write the .exr ending directly in the textfield under vfb with the filename, instead of using .vrimg, and then it saves and works as an exr. (c:\folder1\folder2\filename.exr)
    No problem importing into Aftereffects with all the render elements.
    Am i missing something here?

    No it is not really necessary, sometimes it is not even necessary to render out in exr . That conversion method is used to create scanline based .exr files instead of bucket or tile based exr's. I thought scanline based .exr's are not generated on the fly while rendering for optimal memory use. The need for scanline based exr's is because of aplications like nuke handling them better. Something like this. Search the forum for more info, lots of threads...
