  • search displacement map for roof tiles

i face the problem that my roff tiles appear too flat. i think a displacement map could fix this.
the problem is, i have none for a roof with roof tiles.
Would be thankfull for infos where i could get one. (best would be for free)

If your roof is simple [as in your render] then you could build tiles with geometry better & quicker than you could search on google for a good texture. [should take no more than 5 mins]

HERE IS A CUT & PASTE FROM A RECENT POST I REPLIED TO REGARDING DISPLACEMENT

One optimized geometry 3D roof tile = 12-20 polys
One displacement 3D roof tile = 1000+ polys
Multiply that by hundreds or thousands of Roof tiles & see what you get. [Even with view dependant 'ON']

You can vary the geometry pattern over a much larger area than a bitmap is capable of as well. [The script can randomize size, rotation, etc & throw a material by element modifier on it and you have random tiles as far as the eye can see.]

And the best thing is what you see is what you get!

I love textures but I always build geometry if it's easier & gives better results.

        HOPE THIS HELPS
