and if you turn off the DOF, the speedup in rendertime can justify the post work??

Hello,
I looked at your render settings and I'm not sure what your DMC samples are set at..usually we do 3-12.... Clr thresh .003....
Use DMC sampler thersh: unchecked.
In your SETTINGS tab make noise threshold to .001 This will up the samples but will lessen the noise.
You are also using Exponential in your color mapping...If you check out this link you can see that HSV Eponential will give you better darks and lights
http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/150S...lormapping.htm
...Also you should check linear work flow box.
Change your gamma to 2.2...if you haven't changed it already in your Preference. Under the "Gamma LUT tab"
I know these are completely different settings than you have, but i think it will look better in the long run.
A good way to see what is causing the problems is to use the frame buffer with all your elements keyed up...That way once your test render is finished you can go through the passes in the frame buffer and see which pass is causing the problem.
In your case i think the reflect samples on your shader are too low. Also your noise threshold is set at .01 instead of .001
In my experience with Vray...its a give and take when it comes to noise...Upping the sample usually works but it will increase render time a little bit. The price we pay for perfection.
