  • Pattern in image

I get some strange pattern in a hires image. Attached is a part of the image. The pattern has the same size as the rendering buckets.

Some of my overall high settings:
    AntiAlias: Mitcheli-Netravalli
    Irradiance Map: Medium
Light Cache: Subdivs 2000, sample size 0,009
3 lights all have subdiv 30
    VRay physical Camera

Problem occurs both with and without DOF.

    Any hints?

Do you have the sub-pixel mapping option in the Color Mapping rollout enabled or disabled? Also, what are your AA settings?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Vlado,

I am using HSV exponential with sub-pixel mapping enabled. For AA, I am using Adaptive DMC, Mitchell-Netravali, size 4, ringing 0,333, Blur 0,33 and for for adaptive DMC min subd. 2 and Max subdivs 4. DMC sampler: 0,85/0,005 and min samples 8.

      Thanks / Mats

no, rendering on a single machine.

Vlado, did you have a solution or is this a bug?
            Thanks in advance!

Is it there if you turn off "sub-pixel mapping"?

I tried both with and without sub-pixel mapping with the exact same result. Any other thoughts about what is causing the problem?

Nope; at this point I will have to look at the scene in order to be able to tell you more. If you can send it (or at least a part of the scene) to vray@chaosgroup.com it will be very helpful.

                  Best regards,

I was having the same issue, but it dissapeared when I turned off the "sub-pixel mapping" option.

Just a shot in the dark, but as it appears mostly around geometry edges, could it be you have detail enhancement enabled and that is causing the problems for whatever reasons?

EDIT: just saw that this was a very old thread... so might be a little late
