  • Can't save irradiance map error

I'm rendering out my IR & LC maps to a server accessible by all computers, the animation is 900 frames total so I'm saving out every 5th one. There are 9 render nodes working on this, all of them render fine until they get to frame 150 then they begin to give me the can't save error one at a time. I've looked at the BB log but it doesn't have any useful information and the vray log doesen't even mention it, anyone know what's happening? I'm running Max 2009 64 bit with Vray SP5.

I'm at a loss to explain this, I've tried saving the maps to a second server with the same results so I don't think it's a hardware or permissions problem. I've tried rendering out a few old projects that I know work and I get the same result. Could this be the result of the new service pack, I didn't have these problems with SP3A.

Ok I guess no one know anything about this so let me ask if anyone knows if the LC & IR maps are messed up when an error like this occurs. What I mean is if the render nodes can't write the data into the files do the light maps somehow compensate for the missing data or does it mess up the maps and cause the animation when rendered out to also be messed up? I've tried rendering out two files each one had errors during the saving of the irradiance map, one was obviously affected and had large patches of uneven dark lighting while the other looks fine. The one that looks fine did have the errors occure at the then of the light map creation process while the one that was messed up had the errors occure towards the begenning.

So after a lot of pain I've determined that the error was being caused by an imported model, the mystery is solved. I wish the vray logs were more detailed when reporting errors like this.
