  • VRayFur - building lightcache counter runs, but does nothing

Having a problem with vrayfur (system and display units is in mm)

Make a plane 10 000mm X 10 000mm with 10 X 10 length and widh segments. Add vrayfur all with default settings. Setting vraycam and sky, enable GI and render.

Lightcache supposedly is building (counters running) but nothing happens. Cancelling render does nothing. Only way to get out is to end task for max.

    Any ideas?
    Kind Regards,
    Morne

I think it might need some more segments; 10 x 10 seems too little for this object. Also you can try reducing the density of the fur strands and see if it helps. Increasing the dynamic memory limit might also help.

ive alo tried 50 X 50 and it does the same. I'm running 6gb machine with dynamic set to 4096. Surely this must be plenty for this small test?

(setting distribution per face instead of per area seems to work)

It depends on how many fur strands you want to generate in the end...

the default of 0.2 in per area didn't work. But the default of 1 in per face worked. I upped this figure to 50 in per face and it worked perfect. (long render times though). I will also compare with max hair and fair and see render times
