displacement and surface topology

  • displacement and surface topology

    I run into this problem once in a while, presumably it has to do with surface topology (the dark areas follow surface edges). The grass object is an acad polyline with a edit mesh mod, simple 2d bitmap displacement. Just wondering if there's an easy fix.

    Ok nevermind. Found the thread on "thin triangles". Subdivide mod works here but ultimately garbage in garbage out...

      For something so remarkably simple such as a ground plane ALWAYS remodel it in max.....it should take you all of about 2 seconds! And it will let you sleep at night too...lol
