  • Problem with Glossy Reflections & VRay Sun Sky Setup...

    Hey guys,

I have a situation where I would like to use the VRay Sun/Sky system, but I would like the sun to be invisible to all of the glossy reflections. Is this possible?

I have included a Max file that illustrates the problem. In that file, the sun is set to NOT visible and the sun is set to invisible within the VRaySky map. Yet when I render a plane with a glossy matrial, the sun creates a huge hot spot. My only work around was to unlock the Hilight Glossy from the Reflection within the material. And then setting the Hilight Glossy Amount back to 1.

Is there a better way to get around this or am I just setting this up poorly?

    Thanks for any help!

This does not look like glossy reflection; more like a specular hilight. Unfortunately the VRaySun does not have an "affect specular" option to turn off, but I have made a note to add one.

      Best regards,

Vlado, you are correct, it is a specular hilight. Thanks for the information! I thought I was going crazy!
